7th grade Geography Week of March 30 - April 3

Good morning students,

Thank you!!!!  Almost all of you have accessed the IXL website and completed Asia (I.) and (J.). This week go to The Middle East (H.) and complete those questions.

Also, in your notebook, draw each  of the four (4) regions (put on 4 separate pages) and label the countries and capitals.  Label the bodies of water and mountains.

We will not meet for class this morning on google Hangouts until I work out the groups.  Sorry for the delay......

Ms. O

P.S. I have received little or no work in IXL for (4) students.  I will email those four students and their parents so that you begin working in IXL.

Have a good day and continue to work on your assignments!!!!!!

Religion Week of March 30 - April 3

Good morning everyone!

Thank you all for completing your Religion assignments.  I received almost everyone’s Chapter 20 test scores.  If you do not score at least a 16 out of 20 you can always do extra credit to improve you grade.  Just email me and I’ll let you know what to do.

Also, it is not necessary to send all the activity pages to me via email.  I trust that you complete those assignments and we will talk about them once we start live classroom meetings on google Hangouts.

In Religion this week, start Chapter 21: Love of God.
Day 1 - To explore how to put God first in our lives...read (281- 283); do Activity (283)
Day 2 - To discover how the 1st commandment guides us to love God above all else...read (284    -285); write vocabulary words in notebook; do Activity (285)
     Day 3 -  To discover how the 2nd commandment teaches respect for God’s name...read (286 - 287); do Activity (287)
Day 4 - To learn about the 3rd commandment and what it teaches us...read (288 -289); do Activities (289)
Day 5 - Go to BeMyDisciple.com take the online test and send me a screenshot of your test.

Remember, do one lesson a day.  Don’t try to do all in one or two days.

This week, you are to write a letter to an older family member ( or family friend) and tell them you are thinking about them during this time.  You may want to tell them about how your life has changed by describing your online learning instead of going to school every day.

Write the letter in your Religion notebook and then either text, phone or write a letter and mail it to them.

Pray the rosary daily!!!!

No Religion or SS meeting at your 9:30 or 10:30 time today until I work out the specifics.

I miss you all and pray for all of you,

Love, Ms. O

6th grade Social Studies Week of March 23 - 27

Hi students,

This week in Social Studies we will begin covering Chinese Dynasties circa 600 - 1800 AD in your textbooks pages 200 - 205.  You should read those pages and write down in your notebooks the following vocabulary words, people, and place : porcelain, abacus; Wu Hou, Genghis Khan, Kublai Khan; and the Forbidden City.

Also, go to ducksters.com click on Ancient China and read about these dynasties:

  •                       Tang Dynasty
  •                       Yuan Dynasty
  •                       Song Dynasty
  •                       Ming Dynasty
Read about each dynasty and take the 10 question quiz and screen shoot the score and send it to me.
Then go to the headings Culture or People and choose an additional section to read.  Take one (1) quiz and screen shoot it and send the score to me.

Be sure to include a fact, an achievement  or interesting idea for each Dynasty and the additional reading from Culture or People headings.  Write it in your notebook.

This week’s activity is to look for examples of artwork done during the Ming Dynasty (also found on page 203 in your book).  Use your IPad to also access information.  Create your own drawing, painting or pastel that represents Ming art.

This work is to be completed by March 27, 2020.

If you have questions, email me.

Enjoy learning about these Dynasties.

7th grade Geography Intro Asia

Good week to all of you,

As we begin our on-line journey in our study of Geography, we will be learning skills to support the information you read in text (online or your textbook),  how to make connections that relate to your lives, and how to apply what you learn in your study of Asia.

Remember, that it will be a new way for all of you and me to learn about Asia.  The areas you will explore include the physical geography; its history; culture and regions of the continent of Asia.

Today, become familiar with the physical map of the continent, Asia.

Which countries are a part of  Eastern Asia?  There are six (6).
In Southeast Asia?  There are ten (10).
In South Asia?  There are eight (8).
In Southwest Asia or sometimes referred to as the Middle East?  There are twenty-two (22).

Refer to the Regional Database in your textbook or locate the countries online.  (Some of you utilized your textbook to locate the countries when we studied Europe).

What major bodies of water and rivers do you see?
What is the capital of each country?

In your Geography notebook, organize the information listed above into four (4) sections:  Eastern Asia; Southeast Asia; South Asia; and Southwest Asia/the Middle East.  List the countries in each section and write its capital.  You can make flash cards to help you learn.  And don’t forget to use the online resource that we used in class, Seterra, and take the quizzes to assess your proficiency.

Don’t get overwhelmed by the work.  I know each of you can succeed and discover new information about the continent of Asia.  Employ the 5 Themes of Geography to your exploration of ASIA!!!!

Stay tuned for more.....email me if you have questions.  I miss you and hope you are well and excited about learning: SAS Colts 2020 Spring Online Geography Course offered by yours truly, Ms. O.

6th grade Religion Week of March 16- 22

Good week to you students,

As we begin our online journey in Religion, you know that this will be a real challenge for us to continue to grow in knowledge, connect our faith with day to day experiences and practice the skills of discipleship.

You can know and live your faith through loving service to others even though we are staying at home, keep this in mind.......begin each day by praying the rosary.  I hope that you all have a rosary at home, if not you can always make one.  If you can't remember exactly how to pray the rosary refer to page 372 in your Religion textbook.  (Remember, pray the JOYFUL MYSTERIES- Mondays and Saturdays; LUMINOUS MYSTERIES- Thursday;  SORROWFUL MYSTERIES- Tuesday and Friday; GLORIOUS MYSTERIES- Wednesday and Sunday.

On Friday afternoons, at school, we prayed the rosary and it took about 20 minutes so ask your brothers or sisters, Mom and Dad,  or other family members to join you whenever possible.

Next week in Religion, read Chapter 20.  Follow the lessons for each day (Monday through Friday) read the pages, then complete the activity for each day.  Write in your notebooks, any vocabulary words unfamiliar to you.  Write the definition and then make up a sentence using that word.

When you have completed Chapter 20 go to the be my disciple website and take the online test/quiz for Chapter 20.  Submit or take picture of your score.

I have listed the website on my blog so you or with the help of your parents should register and be able to complete quiz.

Due date for Chapter 20 is March 27, 2020.

I am missing you very much.  My timer on my phone is still set to ring when class time ends and I’m having to get up and dance by myself!!!!!!

Love, Ms. O
